Circular Summer Camp Series

Spending your summer in Copenhagen? Join us at Greencubator in Nørrebro for Upcycle Your Summer, a three-part workshop series focused on upcycling, practical skills, and community.

Project name:
Circular Summer Camp Series

Purpose:
Upcycle Your Summer aims to empower young people to adopt more sustainable everyday habits through practical skills, creativity, and community engagement. By focusing on simple actions in daily life—such as repairing, reusing, and reducing waste—the project encourages participants to take climate action in accessible and tangible ways.

Organised by Sustainary, the workshop series creates a welcoming space where young people can learn, connect, and explore sustainable living together during the summer months in Copenhagen.

Project Description:
Upcycle Your Summer is a three-part workshop series hosted at Greencubator in Nørrebro. The Saturday sessions focus on practical sustainability skills related to clothing, food, and transportation—three areas of everyday life where small actions can significantly reduce waste and environmental impact.

Beyond the hands-on activities, the workshops also create space for conversation, idea-sharing, and community building. Summer in the city can sometimes feel quiet or isolating, especially for students and young residents. This project transforms that time into an opportunity to learn new skills, meet like-minded people, and engage with sustainability in a meaningful way.

Workshop Overview:
Re-Fuel – Cooking with Food Waste
Participants explore creative ways to cook with ingredients that often go unused, such as stale bread, vegetable stems, or peels. The session includes collaborative cooking, discussions on food habits, composting, and tips for more sustainable grocery shopping.

Re-Ride – Bike Repair Basics
Participants learn basic bicycle maintenance, including how to fix a flat tire, check brakes, and perform simple repairs. The workshop also explores the role of cycling in building greener and more sustainable cities.

Re-Fashion – Upcycling Your Wardrobe
Participants learn sewing and no-sew techniques to repair, resize, or creatively transform clothing items. The session focuses on extending the lifespan of garments and encouraging more mindful consumption. Participants are encouraged to bring one or two clothing items to work on during the workshop.
