COP31 Youth Simulation

Around 100 young people take part in a two-day climate diplomacy simulation ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.

What to expect

Young participants from diverse educational and professional backgrounds take on the roles of countries, international organisations, businesses and civil society. They negotiate the climate issues expected to shape the actual COP31 agenda.

The simulation has four negotiation tables: Fossil Fuel Transition & Energy Security; Critical Minerals & Green Industrial Competition; Climate Finance & Adaptation; and Loss & Damage & Climate Displacement. Two tables run in parallel each day.

Partners can chair a table as their primary role. Chairs act as the COP Presidency, guide realistic negotiations, manage speaking time and help delegations build compromises. Depending on capacity and availability, partners can also join consultations as consultants or experts, answer questions and bring real-world perspectives to the discussions.

Who It's For

The simulation is designed for around 100 young participants from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Partner contributions can take the form of a negotiation chair or, depending on capacity, an expert consultant.
