COP31 Youth Simulation
A two-day climate diplomacy simulation ahead of COP31 in Antalya, where around 100 young people negotiate the issues shaping the climate agenda.

Purpose
The simulation gives young people practical experience with negotiation, diplomacy and public speaking. It builds understanding of global climate governance and COP processes, and encourages critical thinking about climate justice, democracy and international cooperation.

Project Description
Ahead of the actual COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, around 100 young participants from diverse educational and professional backgrounds take on the roles of countries, international organisations, businesses and civil society. They negotiate the issues expected to dominate the COP31 agenda.

Is this relevant to you?
Around 100 young participants from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Partners can contribute as a negotiation chair or, depending on capacity and availability, as a consultant or expert.
Partners
Organised by Sustainary. Partner: Tuborgfondet. The simulation takes place at Studenterhuset in Copenhagen. Two tables run in parallel each day, with one partner assigned as chair to each table. Primary partner role · Facilitator / negotiation chair: act as the COP Presidency, open and close rounds, manage speaking time, guide realistic negotiations, encourage compromise and report outcomes. Additional role, depending on capacity and availability · Consultant / expert: offer advice during consultations, answer questions, challenge assumptions and bring technical, political or economic perspectives.
